Katrina and Hui Chuen fail to make cut




The olympic dream remains out of reach for SEA Games gold medalist Katrina Ann Hadi and Png Hui Chuen

The duo finished 27th in the duet discipline in the London Olympic qualification tournament for synchronized swimming on Sunday.

Katrina and Hui Chuen scored 36.650 for technical merit and 36.850 for artistic impression for a total of 73.500 points and did not make the second round.

Judging by the standards from the qualification tournament, the Malaysia duo will have raise the bar to score above 80.000 points to be in contention for the next Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Hungary grabbed the last spot at the end of the second round with 80.540 points.

Katrina is likely to be paired with a younger swimmer as Hui Chuen is 28 and may not be in contention for the next games.

Katrina is only 19 and will be reaching her prime by then as synchronized swimming is a sport where one 

North Korea, South Korea and Japan join World Championship silver medalists China as the four Asian representative for the duet discipline at the London Olympics.
