A Malaysian tourist is believed to have gone
missing following the bomb blast at Lee Gardens hotel in Hat Yai, Thailand
yesterday.
At press time, several officers from the
Malaysian consulate-general office in Songkhla, Thailand are searching on the
whereabouts of 39-year-old restaurant worker Tan Peng Chan.
Malaysia's consul-general in Songkhla, Mohd Aini
Atan, said the consulate got light of Tan's disappearance after his parents
from Kuala Kedah near here came to his office.
“Tan's parent is with my officers at Songkhla
Nagarind Hospital in Hat Yai to check if he is one of the four people killed
during the bombing.
“However, we could only confirm the matter by
tomorrow (Monday),” he told the New Straits Times, when contacted.
On the 10 Malaysian undergoing treatments at
three hospitals in Hat Yai, five of them have been discharged. They
are K. Sagunthala, 34, Mini Ng, 35, and sisters Chiaw Pui Pui, 34, Chiaw
Pui Hoon, also 34, and Chiaw Pui See, 33.
The remaining five Malaysians are still
undergoing treatment at the hospitals.
Meanwhile AFP reports, the number of death toll
rose to 14 people and more than 500 were injured in the
attacks.
