Thai Bombing: Malaysian went missing

A Malaysian tourist is believed to have gone missing following the bomb blast at Lee Gardens hotel in Hat Yai, Thailand yesterday.
At press time, several officers from the Malaysian consulate-general office in Songkhla, Thailand are searching on the whereabouts of 39-year-old restaurant worker Tan Peng Chan.

Malaysia's consul-general in Songkhla, Mohd Aini Atan, said the consulate got light of Tan's disappearance after his parents from Kuala Kedah near here came to his office.

“Tan's parent is with my officers at Songkhla Nagarind Hospital in Hat Yai to check if he is one of the four people killed during the bombing.

“However, we could only confirm the matter by tomorrow (Monday),” he told the New Straits Times, when contacted.

On the 10 Malaysian undergoing treatments at three hospitals in Hat Yai, five of them have been discharged. They are K. Sagunthala, 34, Mini Ng, 35, and sisters Chiaw Pui Pui, 34, Chiaw Pui Hoon, also 34, and Chiaw Pui See, 33.
