‘WWW’ forecast
by Wong Man Kei
Putrajaya : Kuala Lumpur ’s “WWW” vehicle registration number may be the most expensive registration number when booking starts on April 30, until May 14.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha yesterday said, “There had been many enquiries and telephone calls regarding the ‘WWW’ registration number.”
“One of the reasons the people are so interested in having the registration number is because it is the acronym of the World Wide Web. Based on the interest shown, we believe the registration number would not just be a hot item, but a record of the highest booking price.”
“Bookings for the “WWW” registration number could be made at the Federal Territory ’s Road Transport Department in the capital.”
The “WWW” vehicle registration number would be the most expensive number, provided that it surpasses the country’s so far, highest bid for a vehicle registration number, MCA1, at Ringgit Malaysia three hundred thousand and one hundred (RM300, 100.00) in 2010.
According to Kong, there were four (4) registration number categories. They are premium, attractive, popular and running.
“Premium numbers are from 1 to 10 with a minimum booking price of RM10, 000 while “attractive” numbers are sold at a minimum of RM2,000. Popular and running numbers are sold at a minimum price of RM300.”
Kong said the department, annually collected an average of Ringgit Malaysia one million and seven thousand (RM1, 700, 000.00).
